With a commitment to the vision of “To be World Class Port with Excellent Logistics Services for Sustainable Growth,” the Port Authority of Thailand is preparing to implement the Port Community System (PCS). This system is already utilized by world-class leading ports in countries such as Germany, Belgium, China, and Singapore, where PCS has notably enhanced the analysis, planning, and efficiency of maritime transport.
PCS is a digital technology system that manages vast amounts of data (Big Data) related to both government agencies and private sectors. It serves as a central hub for seamlessly connecting logistics activities and waterborne cargo transportation information from upstream to downstream.
PCS links data between government-to-government (G2G), business-to-government (B2G), and business-to-business (B2B) through an internationally standardized e-Logistics Platform. This reduces the complexity of checking cargo status and various information among different agencies, operators, or stakeholders, including shipping lines, ports, customs, shipping companies, transport companies, and warehouses. The system provides 24-hour access to data through the centralized PCS system. Currently, the platform is in the development phase, and appropriate usage patterns are being designed. This will allow all parties to utilize the information for advanced work planning, thereby reducing time and expenses for operators, as well as decreasing the overall logistics expenses for the country.
